Celebrating the Life of Gaye Ellen Monroe

December 3, 1955 – August 14, 2026

Gaye Ellen Monroe, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at the age of 70. Known for her generous heart, her fierce commitment to her community, and her fondness for the color purple, Gaye brought warmth, dignity, and a touch of lighthearted joy to everyone who knew her.

Born on December 3, 1955, to the late Duane and Mary Davis, Gaye grew up with a grounded sense of curiosity and community. She went on to earn her associate degree, laying the foundation for a life spent learning, advocating, and giving back.

On February 15, 1975, Gaye married the love of her life, John Monroe. Together, they built a beautiful life, sharing 51 years of steadfast love, partnership, and cherished memories.

Gaye was deeply passionate about local civic engagement and served proudly for four years as a City Councilwoman for Ward 2 in Northglenn, Colorado. Her commitment to her town extended beyond council chambers—she became an active leader within the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association of Northglenn (CPAAN), forming lasting, cherished friendships with local police officers and community members.

When she wasn't serving her city, Gaye found solace in life’s quiet, meaningful moments. She loved working through crossword puzzles, escaping to the beauty of the Colorado mountains, and above all, simply spending peaceful afternoons at home with John. A lifelong animal lover, Gaye and John shared a passion for rescuing dogs, offering a loving home to pups in need over the years. She also held a special affection for Disney’s Dopey, a sweet reminder to never take life too seriously.

Gaye’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, John Monroe; her daughter, Lindy, and grandson, Xavier Medina; her son, Clinton (CJ) Monroe, his wife Megan, and their children, Andy, Evan, and Emma; and her brother, Rex Davis, and his wife Jeannett. She was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Mary Davis.
