Gary Heath

May 19, 1944 — June 5, 2025

Centennial

Gary Lee Heath, age 81, deeply loved and respected husband, father, grandpa, brother, teacher, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Littleton on June 5, 2025, after a battle with lymphoma.

A Colorado native, born in Denver to Garnet Heath on May 19, 1944, he grew up in East Denver with his single mother and two brothers, Don & Ron, and attended Denver Public Schools, graduating from East High School. Education was one of Garys proudest pursuits, receiving a BA degree in Education from Colorado State College (now UNC) and a MA from University of Northern Colorado. He taught elementary school, grades 4th, 5th, and 6th, for 32 years in Jefferson County Public Schools where he touched many, many lives, and retired in 1999 from Colorow Elementary School.

Another proud achievement was being part of the United States Air Force from 1969 - 1972, stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware. From 1972-1995 he served in the Air National Guard at Buckley AFB. He handled survival equipment on C-133, C-141, CS cargo planes, Fl00, A-7, F-16 fighter planes, and trained pilots in the use of the equipment and survival after bailout. He retired as SMSGT, Superintendent of Life Support 120th Fighter Squadron.

Gary purchased a Model A Ford (in at least 100 pieces) in 1983 and became a passionate "Model A Lover" by assembling it and learning all he could about the 1930 pick-up. That led to owning 4 more Model K s of different models. That led to joining the Model A Ford Club of Colorado in 1985 and being members to the present time, 40 years. The Club has given us

many life long friends, tours, trips, knowledge, camaraderie and so many memories. This has been the best support we could ever have.

Garys proudest accomplishment has been his family, beginning with meeting the love of his life, Sherry, in college in 1963 and marrying in 1967, 58 years of marriage. Daughters Wendy (Calvin) and Heidi (Craig) and Grandkids Morgan, Patrick, Ethan, Jack, and Caden have been the main focus all of his life. Being an attentive, loving Husband, Dad and Grandpa was a big part of his life and has rewarded us by having such a great family, so many great memories for all of us to have as we navigate through the difficult times.

Gary and Sherry loved to travel with family, friends, or with each other. The sense of adventure has led them to all 50 states in their Model A and/or their RVs, many more than once, and to visit at least 70 countries/islands to remember and explore. So many memories, great times, great friends and family. We are so fortunate to have been able to experience so much beauty and adventure and collect memories together.

Thank you for being a part of his life and adventures. We appreciate each person, experience, and memory we have. Thank you ALL. The Family of Gary Heath
