Gary Gene Dettwiler
On April 29, 2025, Gary Gene Dettwiler passed away peacefully, surrounded by love.
Born in 1943 in Missoula Montana, to Mayme and Gene Dettwiler. Alongside his sister Pat, he was raised by their devoted and loving aunt, Ruth McQuaide, in Clark Fork, Idaho, and later Spokane, Washington.
In 1973, Gary married the love of his life, Frances Lee. Over the next 52 years, their bond grew ever deeper, rooted in love, laughter, and mutual respect. They spent much of their life together and raising their family in Billings, Montana, before settling in Parker, Colorado—building lasting friendships wherever they went.
Gary was known for his warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness. He had a deep love for golf, grilling, and sports—especially cheering on the Billings Mustangs (even hosting players in their home), the Billings Big Horns hockey team, the Colorado Rockies, and his cherished Seattle Seahawks.
Above all, Gary was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances; half-brother Rick Dettwiler (Serina); his two children, Denise Dettwiler Tocco (Paul) and Daniel Dettwiler (Andrea); and his four adored grandchildren, Anthony, Vinny, Rory, and Addison. Whether attending a game, relaxing at the beach, or simply enjoying time together outdoors, Gary found his greatest joy in being with his family. Affectionately known as “Grandpa Gare Bear,” his playful spirit and deep love left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Gary’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
