Gary Lee Brown

Gary Lee Brown of Lakewood CO was born in Omaha, NE on January 31, 1958. He was adopted by Melvin and Isabelle (Lafferty) Brown, Lincoln, NE, when he was a young child. He had two sons, Keith and Jesse with his ex-wife Carolyn (Larry) Weise. He re-married in 1993 to Valerie (Topil) whom he loved to the end. He passed away on September 18, 2026 at a skilled nursing facility.

Gary started his career working handyman jobs and building maintenance in Lincoln, NE. He and Valerie moved to Colorado in 2000 where he continued his maintenance career at hotels and assisted living facilities. They moved to Louisville, KY in 2004 for 18 months before being transferred back to their beloved Colorado “God’s Country”.

In his time off, Gary loved to be out on his motorcycle. His favorite trips were his motorcycle trips around the United States. He didn’t feel the need to travel outside the country because there was so much to see here.

Some of his other passions were washing and waxing his vehicles (even his riding mower), working on his yard (he loved it when people commented on what a beautiful yard he had, and asked for the secret), and listening to music (In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly was his favorite song but he definitely ventured out to newer artists as well). He and his wit will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Valerie, his sons and daughters-in-law, Keith (Nikki) Brown, Kingman, AZ, and Jesse (Kim Hartley) Brown, Denver, CO, mother-in-law Margaret Topil, Rising City, NE, sister and brother-in-law Cathie (Dave) Miller, Lincoln, NE, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Chuck (Susie) Topil, David City, NE, Cathy (Chris) Terrana, West Harrison, NY, several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Isabelle, father-in-law LeRoy Topil, brother-in-law Ed Topil, along with aunts and uncles and his friend and mentor Robert Fauver.
