Garard “Spud” Renzelman, a native Coloradan, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026 after a long battle with lung cancer at his home in Littleton CO. Spud married his High School sweetheart, Gail (Koch) Renzelman in 1958. She has been by his side ever since. Spud is also survived by daughter Kim Corning and son in law Brett, daughter Pam Blegen, grandchildren Brittney Vickrey and husband Brandon, Brandon Blegen and wife Emilee, Shelby Corning, Amber Blegen, 2 great grandchildren Kinsley and Logan Vickrey and his brother Robert Renzelman.
Spud proudly served his country in the US Army and in 1967, he founded and became CEO and owner of Midstates Inc. With his keen business sense, he has kept Midstates Inc in business for 59 years. Aside from enjoying time with his family, Spud was an avid fisherman. He excelled in fly fishing and once caught a world record steelhead trout in Canada. Spuds other hobbies included woodworking and shooting. He participated in many shooting tournaments with his friends at his local gun club. Spud could be seen most weekends tooling around on his riding mower, visiting neighbors, and sometimes actually mowing the grass. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Fort Logan CO towards the end of May 2026. Exact date and details still TBD.
