Gail Cohen

December 25, 1945 — March 26, 2026

Denver

Gail M. Cohen, 80, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 25, 1945. She was the second of three daughters of Phillip Dulberg and Irene Katz Dulberg. She died on March 26, 2026, at HCA HealthONE Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. She is survived by her husband James B. (“Jim”) Dean of Denver, daughter Sheree Benson and son-in-law Shaun Benson of Studio City, California, and by Jim’s children Cyndi Gail Vosburgh (Craig) and James M. Dean (Liz), and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and son Adam Scott Cohen who died at the age of 26 of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Gail attended school through high school in Brooklyn and college in New York and California. She married Harvey Cohen in Brooklyn on July 26, 1964. She commenced her work life in New York. She and Harvey moved to Los Angeles, California in 1965. They moved to the Denver, Colorado, area in 1979.

After Gail moved to Colorado she began a career in which she became a financial advisor. She was one of the first women to work in the field of stockbrokers and financial advisors in the Denver financial field which was dominated by men. She had many clients who also became friends of Gail over the years. She retired in 2012. She remained in touch with many of her co-workers and clients after retirement.

Most of all, Gail was a loving mother not only to her children but to many of Sheree’s and Adam’s friends who could be found in Gail’s home on many days, evenings and overnight during their school age years and beyond. Gail loved her children and their friends dearly always being there with advice, counsel and a comforting hug. When she commenced working in Denver, Gail arranged her schedule so she could be home before and after school for Sheree and Adam. She was always “there” for them and for her adult friends who needed help or a shoulder to lean on. When Adam died, Gail was at his bedside throughout his illness.

Gail enjoyed her work and clients in the financial field and time with her friends visiting or going to lunch or dinner or helping out. She liked good food and was an amazing cook, something she never gave up. She enjoyed restaurants and became friends with some of the owners, managers and staff of the restaurants she most often frequented. Domestic and foreign travel were activities that delighted Gail together with attending concerts, plays, musicals and other aspects of the performing arts. She also liked to bowl.

After Gail and Harvey were divorced, she met Jim Dean. They became an almost inseparable couple, especially after their marriage in 2002 pursuing many of their common interests together which included the kinds of things that Gail enjoyed doing.
