Freemond L. Seney, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Freemond was the youngest son of Senie and Irene (Benoit) Seney, born on a farm near Burbank, South Dakota. Freemond attended the local Bruyer one-room school house. In 1943 Freemond graduated from University High School in Vermillion, SD. He was drafted into the military in 1945 at the age of 22, and served 3 years in the Air Force. He served in Guam and Saipan as an Air Traffic Controller. He was honorably discharged in Enid, Oklahoma in 1949. Later, Freemond attended the University of South Dakota and the Chillicothe Business College in Missouri. He was first employed by the Kansas City Southern Railroad for four years, transferred to Denver, then to Chicago, then back to Denver and joined the Rock Island Railroad as a Freight Sales Agent. He eventually retired from the BNSF Railroad. In 1954, when Freemond came to Denver, he joined CYPC - Cathederal Young Peoples Club, where the first person he met, on the front steps of the Knights of Columbus, was Lorena Mary Aranda. Freemond and Lorena remained active in the CYPC until they married in 1960. As alumni they continued attending dances and socials. Freemond and Lorena were married for 45 years and proudly had four children and five grandchildren. Roxane (Jeff) Apple, Lauren and Taylor Apple; Renee (Steve) James, Joey Cicerelli; Neil (Julie) Seney, Raeann Seney; and Norris Seney (girlfriend Stephanie Bullen), Michael Carlson. Freemond leaves many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, great-great nephews and nieces, and even great-great-great nephews and nieces. Freemond was a member of Saint Johnâs/Good Shepherd Catholic Church for 53 years, until his move to HighPointe Assisted Living. He then attended Church of the Risen Christ, where he was a long time active member in the Silverado senior group. Freemondâs hobbies included traveling, stained glass art, coin collecting, art painting, upholstery, penny and nickel casino slots, bingo, cooking, and extensive genealogy research which he loved sharing with the extended families. He was proud to be a family historian resource to many. Freemond was predeceased by his wife Lorena in May 2006, his parents Senie and Irene, sister Blanche (and Raoul) Gregoire, brothers Albert (and Lela), and Albie (and Helen) Seney. Freemond went home to the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Viewing with the family on Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 4:30 PM until the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM in the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver. Reflections from Freemondâs family and friends are welcome until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 9:30 AM, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2626 E. 7th Ave. Pkwy, Denver. (Disabled parking or transportation assistance provided.
