Farrell J. Reilly, known to family and friends as “Joe,” age 92, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026. He was born on November 17, 1933, in Los Angeles, California.
Joe was one semester shy of graduating from UCLA when he made the bold decision to leave school and begin a lifelong career in aviation. He began by flying crop dusters before serving in the Air National Guard. He went on to become a commercial airline pilot, flying with Trans World Airlines (TWA) and later American Airlines, where he became a Captain in 1967 and finished a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years, retiring in 1993.
Beyond his career, Joe was an avid fisherman and golfer, a talented skeet shooter, and a seasoned world traveler. He also generously gave his time as a volunteer, always willing to lend a hand and share his knowledge and experience with others.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Rosalie (Lee) Reilly; his sons, Robert Reilly and Mark Reilly; and his daughter, Leslie Reilly. He was a devoted husband and father, and he will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, steady presence, and deep love for his family.
