Eva Hickman

January 5, 1918 — April 21, 2021

Proctor

Eva Hickman passed away in peace on April 21, 2021 at the age of 103. Born January 5th 1918 in Proctor, Colorado, she saw the devastations of the Great Depression and World War II, the advent of modern day cars, air travel, television, computers and the internet, in her many years as a wife, mother and a working professional as Executive Secretary to the Controller for Colorado Fuel & Iron and Western Federal Savings. She was a graduate of Manual High School and Parks Business School. She was a member of "Daughters of the Nile", "Beta Sigma Phi Sorority", "1918 Club", and "The Swinging Thirties" organizations along with several others.

She is survived by her only son, Jason Hickman and wife Christine; four loving grandchildren, Jessica Wasinger (husband Adam), Lindy Copeland (husband Sterling), Hannah Thom (husband Patrick), Zachary Hickman (wife Kayleigh), and  great-grandson Everett Conway Copeland.

Eva loved life and people and along with her husband, Jay (who owned several beauty salons and a beauty school), were active in numerous Colorado organizations and activities. To know her was to love her as she shared her joyful spirit, insightful wit, and caring heart wherever she went. She was an impeccable dresser and loved to dance. Remarkably, Eva even danced in the Shrine Circus at the age of 96. She participated in many sports and loved to travel, but most of all, she loved people and always wanted to know more about who they were - always caring more about others than herself. And finally, she was an eternal optimist, famous for her motto for the bad times, "This too shall pass".
