Ernestine "Tina" Romero

Ernestine “Tina” Romero passed peacefully on the morning of July 3, 2023. Tina was born on June 15, 1933, in Aguilar, Colorado and is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel. She married Manuel Romero in 1953, and were together for 62 years. They spent the first few years of marriage in Trinidad and Gunnison, Colorado. In 1958, she and her family moved to Denver. As a homemaker, she joyfully raised her three children watching them grow. Tina enjoyed gardening and harvested vegetables that later ended up on the dinner table. She also had quite a creative ability which showed up in her many craft projects, including crocheting and embroidery. Through the years, she perfected her seamstress abilities, sewing clothing for herself and her children. She also made decorative curtains and pillows to be displayed in her home. During her retirement years with Manuel, they traveled to Europe two times along with numerous trips to California, the mid-west and eastern states.

Tina is survived by her son Rich and his wife Josey of Southern California; daughter Lori and husband Bob of Aurora, Colorado; and son, James of Thornton, Colorado. Her grandchildren include: Rick, Jennifer Janelle, Rena, Gabrielle and Alana. There are also five great-grandchildren and four grand pets.

The viewing will be 6:00 to 7:00 pm with a rosary following at 7:00 pm, Monday, July 24^th at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014. The funeral mass will be held at the same location on Tuesday, July 25^th at 11:00 am, with the reception to follow. A private interment ceremony will be held on Wednesday, July 26^th at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Spina Bifida Association in her name.
