Eric Alan Eisenhauer, 49, passed away on March 9, 2026. He was born on March 27, 1976, and lived a life filled with compassion, curiosity, and care for all living things. Eric earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology from the College at Brockport, State University of New York. He began his career in animal welfare in Rochester at Lollypop Farm, and continued this passion after moving to Colorado in 2004 through the Dumb Friends League/Humane Colorado. There, Eric fulfilled his purpose of caring for animals in need and helping countless pets find their forever homes. He had an incredible gift for connecting animals with people, inspiring friends and family alike to adopt and open their homes to those in need.
Beyond his professional life, Eric found joy in simple pleasures and creative pursuits. He loved smoking meats and cheeses, crafting his own cocktail cherries, camping beneath the stars, playing video games, hunting with family and friends, and exploring his fascination with fossils. He was a master at creating roadtrip playlists, and loved recreating Italian dishes he learned from his grandfather. His curiosity and creativity touched everything he did.
Eric is survived by his wife, Brenda Eisenhauer; his mother, Kathleen Hauser; his stepmother, Nancy Eisenhauer; and his siblings Jennifer, Kyle, and Melissa. He was a proud uncle to nieces and nephew Alex, Jeffrey, Miranda, and Mia; and a grand-niece and grand-nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved pets: dogs Xola and Luffy, cat Victor Von Doom, and snakes Tiny Bubbles and Kernel. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Alan Eisenhauer; his stepfather, Walter Hauser; brother Chad Hauser, and many beloved pets who are surely greeting him now with wagging tails and happy hearts. We take comfort in believing he’s surrounded once again by the animals he loved so deeply.
Eric’s kindness, wit, and generous spirit will be missed more than words can say. Those who knew him — whether through his work, his friendship, or a shared love of animals — were better for it. His legacy of compassion will live on in every life he touched. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 7 at 11am at Cielo of Castle Pines. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the love Eric brought into the world. In honor of Eric’s lifelong commitment to animals, donations may be made to humanecolorado.org or k9friends.org.
