Elizabeth "Betty" Tyrrell passed away on August 2, 2021 in Denver Colorado. She was born February 12, 1942 in Durango, Colorado. She married George Richard Tyrrell in 1982 at their cabin in Black Hawk Colorado and have enjoyed 39 years of marriage.
Betty graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango and happily spent her entire career as a junior and high school math teacher. She enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time anywhere in the mountains, but especially loved being at her cabin. Amongst her varied interests, she loved hatching Monarch butterflies and was passionate about conserving the delicate habitat which Monarchs require to survive and populate. One of her favorite memories was visiting the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Michoacan Mexico.
Betty's grandsons were her pride and joy. She loved teaching them how to appreciate animals and nature in her unique way, which included raising pheasants and quail with them. No project was too big or too much trouble for her if it would make her grandsons happy.
Betty is survived by her husband, George Tyrrell; daughter Kimberly Carvin and her husband, Brian Carvin of Lakewood, Colorado; 2 loving grandsons: Camden and Maddox, and her brother, Daniel Weddle and his wife Diana. Betty will be greatly missed by many including nieces: Cathy, Cindy, Debbie & Tracy; many great-nieces and nephews; God-daughter, Dawn Renee; cousins and wonderful friends.
