Elizabeth "Liz" Troxell was born on June 19, 1988, to Raymond and Marj Troxell in Englewood, Colorado. She passed away on June 11, 2026, after a short illness.
Liz attended All Souls Catholic School from the Early Learning Center through the beginning of fourth grade. On September 24, 1997, she and her family were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident involving a semi‑truck. Elizabeth suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and spent nine months in a coma. The accident left her with significant physical and cognitive disabilities, and she used a wheelchair for the next 29 years. Despite these challenges, she persevered and proudly graduated from Englewood High School.
Liz loved music-especially anything by Michael Jackson-and was a devoted fan of "Thriller." She participated in an organization called All Stars, where she enthusiastically performed Michael Jackson karaoke every month, despite her inability to carry a tune. She enjoyed concerts, plays, and rock‑and‑roll cruises with her mother and her grandmother, Betty Newell. Every summer, she looked forward to Easter Seals camp in Empire, Colorado, where she took part in the zip line, rock wall climbing, and horseback riding. She often came home covered in bruises but loved every minute. She also participated in Special Olympics bowling every fall.
Liz had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. It was easy to bring out her smile, and we will always remember the way she covered her mouth with her right hand when she laughed. Her signature goodbye-"See you later, alligator! After a while, crocodile! See you soon, you sweet baboon!"-often turned into a long, playful back‑and‑forth, always finished with her cheerful salute. She gave affectionate nicknames to those she loved and treasured her own nickname, "ET," proudly noting that her initials matched the title of a favorite movie.
Liz also loved the Lord. She attended All Souls Church weekly and was confident in her faith and in her place in heaven.
We are grateful to have had Liz in our lives for 37 years, and at the same time, we are grateful that her suffering has ended. She has gone to be with Jesus-unencumbered, whole, and finally free to run.
Liz was preceded in death by her father, Raymond, and her grandparents Betty & Duane Newell, Roy and Lucille Troxell. She is survived by her mother, Marj; her brother, Daniel; her sister‑in‑law, Amanda; and many loving aunts and uncles on both sides of the family.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation, the Rosary, Funeral Mass and Reception will all be held at All Souls Catholic Church 4950 S Logan Street Englewood Co, beginning at 2:30 pm. Burial will take place on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery 6601 South Colorado Blvd. Centennial CO.
Funeral will be lived streamed LINK: Elizabeth "Liz" Troxell - Forever In Our Hearts
