Elizabeth Craven Ells

August 13, 1934 — April 19, 2025

Centennial

Beth Ells passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Beth lived a life rich in family, friendships, adventure and love.

Beth was born in New Brunswick, N.J., and raised in Mountain Lakes, N.J. While in high school, Beth occasionally played hookie to explore NYC where she deepened her love of musical theater while securing autographs of favorites such as Doris Day, Tab Hunter and Frank Sinatra.

After having admired photos of mountains and horses, Beth entered UC Boulder. The reality did not disappoint. After a marriage, two children and several moves, the family arrived in Tulsa, OK. After being widowed and marrying Harry Ells, she completed a BA at the University of Tulsa.

Colorado was calling and the family moved to Denver. She earned a master’s from the University of Denver. She went on to have a very successful career in Denver real estate, leveraging her warmth, intuition and 24/7 dedication.

A lifelong Episcopalian, Beth was committed to giving back, serving on the board of the DCPA and other community organizations. She knew no strangers and retained and grew a coterie of close friends. Always an athlete, she loved bicycling, tennis and golf, fully enjoying the wonderful Colorado weather. Beth was also a world class shopper.

Beth is survived by her husband, Harry Ells, Jr., who was her best friend and constant companion. Together they traveled, played and enjoyed life. She is also survived by her children Betsy Spomer (Bobby Maynard), Eric Spomer (Betty), and Chelsea Ells Manheim (Jon); and her grandchildren Andrew Spomer, Daniel Spomer, Tessa Manheim and Lena Manheim.

Beth was funny, outgoing and adventurous with a tremendous capacity for love and friendship. All who knew her will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Beth’s life will be held at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, May 15 at 10:00 am. The ceremony will be lived streamed here for those unable to attend.
