Eleanor (Elle) L. Martling, age 90, died peacefully in her home in Denver, Colorado on November 14, 2024 accompanied by loved ones. Born in Minden, Nebraska she was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Marjorie, her little brother, Darryl and her ex husband John E. Martling. She is survived by all three of her children, Lynn, John (Pamela) and Susan (Jon), two grandchildren, Painter and Charlotte and her much loved companion, Ned Avary.
Elle considered her children her crowning achievement and was a fun, supportive mom. She enjoyed entertaining and connecting people through her elegant dinner parties. A discerning antique collector and refinisher she always made time for "Antiques Roadshow" attending once with her friend, Marianne.
An adventurous traveler Elle collected memories, rugs and jewelry from around the world. Her impressive bead collection is now shared by many.
She graduated from William and Mary in 1956 and maintained close ties with her sorority sisters from Kappa Kappa Gamma of which she was immensely proud. Her Master's degree was earned at Northeast Missouri State University.
After a lifetime of moves, first as an Army dependent during WWII and then as an officer's wife both in the States and Europe, she settled with her family in the Fraser Valley, Colorado in 1976. Her career in Human Resources began at Winter Park Ski Area and moved on to Mount Airy Psychiatric Hospital and Catholic Charities in Denver where she retired.
She served on the board of the Vajra Flame Foundation and was profoundly grateful for not only the joy and insights Vajra brought to her life but also for the compassionate guidance in her transition from it. She gives thanks to Master Djwhal Khul and Kathlyn Kingdon.
Her incredible strength and positive outlook comfort us as we grieve her passing. Elle's remains will be laid to rest at her son John's family plot in Naples, Idaho.
