Eleanor Martin

Eleanor Martin, 91, of Lakewood, Colorado, died October 5, 2024, after an extended illness. Born January 8, 1933 in the Bronx, New York City, she was a graduate of Central Commercial High School, a member of the Glee club, and awarded a gold medal for excellence in Pitman stenography. Eleanor attended classes at Practicing Law Institute, New York City, and University of Denver. Eleanor spent her working career as a legal secretary at law firms in New York City and Denver.

Eleanor loved traveling with family and friends. She especially enjoyed going on cruises, meeting new people who often became new friends. Her last cruise was in 2022, and had already booked her next in 2023. At family gatherings, she was first to arrive and last to leave. A fan of word games, a skilled Scrabble player. Her humor and quick wit remained up until a few days before her passing much to the delight of family.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Martincich, and half-sister, Mary Louise Staley. 

Survivors include her beloved niece, Mary Ellen Honeyfield, great nephews David Lunka (Carla), Michael Lunka (Valerie), great niece Kathleen Weber (Ty), great-great nephews Lincoln Marcove (Sierra Waters), and Coy Weber, great-great nieces, Kylie Lunka (Geoff Nordin), and Sunny Somers (Alex), and great-great-great nephew Theodore Somers, along with several cousins.

Eleanor will be buried with her parents at New St. Raymond’s Cemetery in New York City.
