Eila Mae (Denker) Smith passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado on July 7, 2023.

Eila was born in Solomon, Kansas on August 17, 1937 to parents Louis and Evelyn Denker.  Eila attended primary school in Princeton, Kansas and graduated high school from Ottawa High School in Ottawa, Kansas.

Eila married Garland Smith on February 1, 1957.  She and Garland had four children, Ricky Smith (deceased), Rodney Smith, Roger Smith, and Rita Smith (deceased).

Eila worked for Fountain-Ft Carson School District #8, in Fountain, Colorado as a school secretary for approximately 20 years.  After retiring, Eila and Garland moved to Federal Heights, Colorado.

After the death of Garland, Eila moved to Thornton, Colorado to live with her sister Colleen.

Eila was an avid sports fan, enjoying NASCAR races, Kansas City Chiefs football games, and watching Kansas University and Kansas State college athletics.

Eila is proceeded in death by her brother Everett, daughter Rita, her husband Garland, and her son Ricky Smith.

In keeping with her reverence for those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States,  donations to the National Museum of the United States Army,  the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Red Cross can be made in Eila’s memory.
