Entrepreneur and lifelong Colorado resident Edwin "Ed" Joseph Pittock passed away on July 17, 2026, at the age of 83.

Ed graduated from high school in Manitou Springs, Colorado, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Distributive Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 1965 where he had a standout athletic career as quarterback.

Ed built a distinguished career in Colorado’s financial services industry spanning nearly three decades. After working at Bosworth Sullivan and Barton & Co., he founded his own broker/dealer firm, E.J. Pittock & Co., in 1974, renaming it Pittock Financial Services upon taking the company public in the early 1980s, while growing it into a respected regional firm before selling it in 1986. He founded Continental Heritage Mutual Funds and merged it into Alpine Capital Management and served on the National Association of Securities Dealers' Business Conduct Committee, chairing it in 1984.

He became a member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) in the 1980s and served in many leadership roles, including serving as an executive of YPO International.

In the 1990s, Ed turned his focus toward serving older adults, founding and serving as President of the Society of Certified Senior Advisors in 1997, teaching senior demographics and marketing to professionals across the country. He also served as President of the Independent Lifestyle Association, co-founded the nonprofit Living Alone Foundation, and founded the Senior Phone Network Foundation — organizations built to support seniors living independently. He was a longtime member of the National Council on Aging, the American Society on Aging, and the Gerontological Society of America, and published articles on senior issues in LAN magazine and Colorado Insurance News. In the 2000s he founded the Home Care Standards Bureau (HCSB), establishing a rigorous certification program for the private home care industry.

Above all, Ed cherished time with his family and friends, and found joy in golf, poker, and bridge.

He is survived by his sons, Casey and Troy Pittock; his brother, Charles Pittock; his sister, Renata Caley; and 4 grandchildren.
