Edward Bradley Gibbs, 80, of Aurora, passed away from prostate cancer on December 22, 2022.
Ed Was born February 10, 1942, in Lake Forrest, Illinois to Edward Ernest and Loretta June (Dunkin) Gibbs. He attended Highland Park High School. Ed graduated from Cornell College with a major in Sociology. In July 1967 he married Martha (Beth) Elizabeth (Peden) Gibbs.
Ed worked for the Colorado Civil Rights Division for 35 years in Denver, Colorado and Greeley, Colorado. His work involved the investigation and resolution of cases alleging discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodations. For a few years in retirement Ed was a driver for a Denver Airport Shuttle Company.
Ed served as president of the Greeley Lions Club. He was also in charge of recycling of glasses for people who could not afford them. As a member of the Greeley United Methodist Church; Ed was the President of the Administrative Council and the Leader of the Social Concerns Committee. In addition, he was an adult Sunday School teacher.
After moving to Aurora in 2014, Ed became of member of the Men's Club of the Smokey Hill United Methodist Church.
Ed loved to sing. He sang to his wife when they were married. He also sang in church choirs and with the Barber Shop Circuit in Greeley. Beth and Ed were square dancers. They also round danced. After moving to Greeley, they spent one year as Presidents of the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club.
Ed loved the mountains and hiked on trails in the Rocky Mountain National Park with family members.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents Edward Ernest and Loretta Gibbs.
Ed is survived by his wife Martha Elizabeth Gibbs, daughters Kathy and Becky. Sisters Susan Zeller (Ewald), Linnea Gibbs and Bonnie Henderson (Rich). Five grandchildren, Seven great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 4th, 2022 at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel at 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014. A Reception will follow.
