Edward Louis Arcuri III

November 16, 1943 — August 16, 2024

Edward (Ed) Louis Arcuri III passed away peacefully on the afternoon of August 16th with his beloved family by his side, after a courageous battle with small cell prostate cancer. He was 80.

Ed was born in Selma, AL, where his father was initially stationed during WWII. He grew up in Littleton, CO, where he learned almost everything there is to know about cars from his father and grandfather. He graduated from Mullen High School where he began honing his political views and the ability to express and defend them. He went to Regis College, and Southern Colorado State College (now Colorado State University – Pueblo) where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History.

After attending Colorado State, he joined the Army to help pay for graduate school, and met his first wife, Mary Anne Moran, who preceded him in death. He became a commissioned officer and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming.

In professional life, Ed was a prosecutor in Colorado Springs (including a run for District Attorney in 1984), Pueblo and Cortez, CO. He was an attorney in private practice, and taught history, criminal law and politics at several colleges around Colorado. He held several positions with the State of Colorado where he harnessed his passions and talents to contribute to legal justice and public policy issues. After 29 years of service in the military, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, from the Colorado Army National Guard.

His greatest loves were his family, his country and automobiles. He wanted everyone he knew to remain curious and keep learning. After retiring, Ed continued to teach, and he launched the Rocky Mountain Superchargers professional drag racing series. He maintained his passion for the Rocky Mountain Superchargers community even while battling cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, his children Edward IV, Cathleen, Charles, Anthony and Latasha, 11 grandchildren, 6 siblings and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ed’s life will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Littleton, CO on Friday, September 6 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow in Marian Hall at the church. A military honors ceremony will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Monday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m.
