Edna Lee Knudsen, 97, passed away on October 26, 2026 at Sunrise Living in Littleton, CO.

Born and raised in Lenoir County, North Carolina to Leo and Ruby Harper, she was the oldest of four children. From an early age she demonstrated a remarkable sense of curiosity and intelligence which led to life long learning.

Edna Lee attended Woman’s College (fondly remembered as WC) in Greensboro, NC, graduating in 1950. Given her quest for learning and adventure, she travelled west to Arapahoe, CO where she began her teaching career and later became a school librarian in Cheyenne Wells, Co. She met and married B.L. (affectionately known as Tutor) Knudsen and together they raised four children, Neil, Eric, Ed and Kristi.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B.L. and her sons, Neil, Eric and Ed. Survivors include daughter Kristi Moran (John); sister Peggy Bullock of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren Parker Knudsen (Karly), Alyse Cook (Lincoln); Ashley and Michael Moran; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Sunrise Living and the wonderful caretakers, as well as Bloom Hospice for their kind and special care of Edna Lee.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider supporting your local library, starting a book club or joining one and maybe reading a banned book or two.

A private service and internment will be held in Arapahoe, Colorado
