On June 24, 2026, Edna Marie Bond peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born to Ed and Neva Rand and Sister to Kay, on May 30, 1949 in Denver, Colorado. She was named after a great aunt, and the Virgin Mary, however she would also come to prefer Eddie as well to good friends and family. She was proud to be a native, growing up in Lakewood, riding a city bus downtown to St. Bernadette’s High, Living in cherry creek, parts of Aurora and this September will mark 50 years at their home in Centennial with Dale.
On June 7, 1975, she married the love of her life. She would call him her “James Dean”, a funny simple man with his cool white t-shirts and jeans. Together they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage, building a home filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. As a Mother of three to Kelley (Eric), Kim (Jim) and Danny (Abby) she was a force of nature, a constantly fair and supportive presence in every chapter of her children's lives. She was the one cheering the loudest from the sidelines of every sporting event or recital and the "cool mom" who turned their home into a welcoming sanctuary for all their friends. She was quite proud of her “in-law children” as well, and so glad that they would come into our lives and take care of her kids. This fierce devotion only deepened as her children became adults, as she celebrated every milestone and eventually poured that same boundless love into her grandchildren.
Her adventurous spirit was infectious, whether she was guiding her family through life's challenges or sharing her spirited love for fast cars and winding mountain roads. She loved road trips to the mountains and to see her cousins and extend family and friends. She loved the many cruises and especially our most recent trip to Alaska for their 50th Anniversary. Her heart was forever connected to the Rand Ranch, the mountain property built by her parents. For over 20 years, San Felipe, Mexico became Dale and Edna’s second home, a reprieve from winter in Colorado, a destination where old friends came and new friendships were made over beach walks, spectacular sunsets, taco Tuesday’s, Coronas, margaritas and watching the Baja races. She often wore a favorite shirt from Mexico that simply read, "No Bad Days". It wasn't just a slogan; it was the way she chose to live with gratitude, optimism, grace, and an appreciation for every blessing.
She balanced being a working mother with a long career centered in Legal Law. She was educated in the rights of passage with each promotion and position she became more and more skilled. She learned to be meticulously organized, deeply respectful of each organization and yet she loved a little bit of office gossip too. She retired from a long tenure at Texaco and made so many lifelong friends along the way.
Edna took great delight in being "Grandma Bond" to Rachel, Gabby, Dean, Hunter, and Ruby. She was their Mom with extra frosting! Always willing to fill in for us as young parents, consistently available for their sporting events and milestones, and recently learning the newest text lingo, sending meme’s, and taking selfie’s etc so she can keep in constant contact with them.
Above all else, Edna's greatest gift was the love she gave so freely. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her kindness was genuine, her generosity quiet, and her laughter contagious. She celebrated with others in times of joy, stood beside them during life's hardest moments, and continually reminded those around her that a simple card in the mail would make people feel love, faith or that family was life's greatest blessing.
Edna grew up with a deep appreciation for faith, first in the Catholic church, then later She and Dale found a welcoming community at Our Father Lutheran Church where bible study, small group gatherings and being part of the “care team” became an important part of her spiritual journey these last couple of years.
Her legacy lives on in every blooming flower, every thoughtfully crafted card, every mountain sunrise, every beach sunset, every favorite song played just a little louder, and every act of kindness inspired by her example. There simply are "No Bad Days".
