Edith D. Donovan, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away June 11, 2016, at the age of 94. Edith was born on December 23, 1921 to William and Emma Spomer. She was baptized on January 8, 1922 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sutton Nebraska, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Hurley, South Dakota on September 8, 1936. Edith worked at the Pentagon for the United States Air Force after World War II. She returned to South Dakota to be near her family again. There, she met her husband, Stanley Larson. He further blessed this couple with three children, Steven, Kathy and Patty. In 1960, the family moved to Denver, Colorado. Edith worked as a hospital receptionist after her children were in school. She also served as a church secretary for many years at Faith Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado under the Rev. Warren Willie. After that, she began work at Buckley Air Force Base and Fitzsimons Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. Over the years, Edith was an active member at Faith Lutheran Church and served the Lord gladly. She was active in Ladies Circle and Child Evangelism. She also loved her Denver Broncos and sent get well cards to John Elway and other team members when they were injured. On June 11, 2016, in the morning hours, she was called to the side of the Lord Jesus, and entered into her eternal rest. Edith was preceded in death by two husbands, Stanley Larson and Thomas Donovan; parents, William and Emma Spomer; and three brothers, Paul Spomer, Don Spomer, and Rich Spomer. Edith is survived by one brother, Harvey Spomer; children, Steven (Cary) Larson, Kathy (Scott) Wertz, and Patty (Shari Goodson) Larson. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jake (Jenni) Larson, Nick Larson, Krista (Marc) Stover, Joseph (Jocelyn) Wertz, and Holly (Zach) McClain; six great grandchildren, Hailey and Jordyn Stover, Kailey, Sydney and Dylan Larson, and Reece McClain, with another on the way; and many nieces and nephews. From Edith: ""Don't grieve for me because I am happy that I am no longer in a wheelchair and they don't have wheelchairs in Heaven! Revelations 2:10 tells us 'Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.' I would like you to keep these words in your mind and live your lives accordingly."" Memorial Services honoring Edith will be Saturday, June 18, 2016, beginning at 11 AM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, in Arvada, Colorado 80003. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.
