Eadie Lewis

March 26, 1933 — December 7, 2014

Our mother, Eadie Lewis, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 7th, 2014, after waging a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. During her life and during her affliction with this terrible disease, she was always a bright and lively lady. She was highly spirited and had a wonderful sense of humor, and she shared both freely. She remained vibrant and kind to the very end. Eadie was a consummate patriot and proud American her entire life. She was proud of her heritage, her career, and her family. She loved country music, spaghetti with homemade sauce, and memories of taking judo and dancing around a ballroom floor. She was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan her entire life and extended her baseball enthusiasm to the Texas Rangers after moving to Texas . Of all, Eadie was most proud of her service in the United States Air Force. She was an Air Traffic Controller in Germany in the 1950's where she met Air Force fighter pilot, Ray Lewis. Ray and Eadie were married several years later in Boston. They were married for 39 years before Dad passed away in 1996. Eadie is survived by her two daughters, Sheryl and Sharyn, their husbands Carl and Russ, and her four beloved grandchildren, Michael, Brett, Ryan and Madeline. Eadie was interred beside our father at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, on December 29, 2014 in a private family ceremony. We loved our mother very much and know in our hearts she loved her family with all of the energy and passion she had. We are quite comforted to know that she is at peace now with our dad in Heaven. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in the hopes that families like ours won't have to endure the devastation this disease presents.
