Doy Kirk CurtisSeptember 24, 1943-December 2, 2025Doy Curtis, 82, passed away December 2 in his home, surrounded by the love of family and friends listening to music from the 50's and 60's. He came home Thanksgiving morning after a difficult three weeks in the hospital. He was at peace with his family, friends, adored kittens and hospice for his final six days.
Doy was born in Windsor, CO, spent his early years in Loveland on his grandpa's farm, then moved with his parents and siblings to Denver. In 1961 he graduated from Lincoln High School and entered CSC (now UNC) in Greeley where he met his future wife, Janet Ayers. They married June 11, 1963. He graduated with a Master's degree in 1966. Through many of life's ups and downs he and Jan managed to always be in love and adored each other.
Doy was a man of many talents. He taught art and driver education in the public school system. He owned Colorado Archery and Bowhunting Supply and was an archer and bowhunter. For a while he raced is 1955 Ford and worked for Bandimere Auto Supply. Doy loved NASCAR, the NFL and many cats. He and Jan became classic and newer car collectors, one of many collections they shared. He was a founding member of the American Bowmen Club-previously American Sportsmen Club and a lifetime member of Colorado Bowhunters Association (CBA) and Pope and Young.
Doy was the last surviving child of his deceased parents Carlton and Flora Curtis. Preceded in death by brother Clark and sister Erith. He is survived by his wife; children Dana Lear of Greeley and Shane (Diane) Curtis of Arvada; grandsons Casey (Vicky) Steele, Cody Curtis, Marshal (Bronte) Curtis; nieces Shannon (Greg) Rood and Dee (Chris) Peterson.
