Dorrlayne Marie "Dori" Nielsen, age 74, of Arvada, Colorado passed away on September 1, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born on June 11, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Dori dedicated 40 years of her life to working as a meeting planner. Her commitment and contributions to the world of ceramics were recognized when she received a Fellowship Award from the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts.

After retirement, Dori and her husband, Keith, embraced their love of travel and exploration. Together, they traveled extensively, visiting 36 countries and 15 states in their cozy trailer. Their travels created countless memories and photos that they shared along the way. Dori and Keith loved to tease each other, and their personalities complemented each other. Each brought different strengths to their relationship creating a partnership filled with laughter and companionship.

Outside of her professional life, Dori found great joy in creating, cooking and sharing with others. She loved to cook and took great pride in her collection of more than 1,000 recipes, carefully organized in a treasured recipe binder. Her garden was filled with herbs and vegetables that she used in her daily cooking.

Dori also loved needlework. Her generosity brightened the lives of others, as she lovingly made numerous kitchen towels and pillows. Her gifts were more than beautiful -- they were expressions of her love and love of detail.

Dori is survived by her husband, Keith Streufert; her brother, Doug (Danni) Nielsen; her niece, Sage (Derek) Fennig; and her grandniece, Elise Fennig. There are many other family and friends that will truly miss her.
