Dorothy Jean Wade

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy J. Wade of Westminster, Colorado, on August 22, 2026 at the age of 90.

Dorothy was born on January 16, 1936, in Sterling, Colorado, to James and Bessie Dilley of Brush, Colorado. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, Sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and dear friend to so many.

Dorothy was the loving mother of Steve and Karen and the beloved wife of Lloyd Wade, who preceded her in death in 2020. Her family was the center of her world and she gave them a lifetime of love, memories and traditions.

Dottie retired from Mountain Bell in 1997. She was also proud to serve as President of the Pioneers Club, Columbine Chapter, in 1981 and 1982.

Dottie lived for Christmas. She was truly our Christmas Queen. But it wasn’t just Christmas as she had a way of making every holiday feel special, from corned beef and cabbage and green Jell-O on St. Patrick’s Day to all the little traditions that made family gatherings unforgettable. If you ever had the chance to spend Christmas at Dottie’s house, you knew just how magical Christmas could be. Pure magic.

Dottie will be remembered for her love of travel, her devotion to family, her generous heart and her beloved rescued dog, Annie. She spent 19 years working at the National Western Stock Show and cherished the many gatherings she hosted in her home. Her door was always open and she had a gift for making people feel welcome, loved and cared for.

Above all, Dottie will be remembered for the love she poured into her family and the countless memories she created throughout her 90 years. Her presence brought warmth, laughter and a little bit of magic wherever she went. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 9888 Grant Street in Thornton, Colorado, on September 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service at Dottie’s beautiful home in Westminster, a place where we created so many cherished memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Denkai Animal Sanctuary.
