Doris Evelyn Tuski

(September 21,1931 – April 30, 2025)

Doris Evelyn (Holm) Tuski, age 93, a resident of Westport, WA, died April 30, 2025, in Denver, Colorado.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Appleyard (Ross) of Denver, Colorado; grandsons Ken Appleyard (Shawna) of Missoula, Montana, Trevor Williams (Faline) of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Tyler Appleyard (Anna Brolin Clark) of Nälden, Sweden; and great grandchildren Paizley and Josie Williams, both of Lakewood Ranch, Florida and Lars and Signe Brolin Appleyard, both of Nälden, Sweden. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Tuski, her son, Brian Tuski and 12 brothers and sisters: Bill Holm, Myrtle Livedalen, Sally Hill, Mabel Anderson, Oliver Holm, Ole Holm, Ruth Sorensen, Lillian Miller, Nina Taylor, Helen Kent, Wesley Holm and Linda Pepper. Doris was the last of the 13 Holm children of Oliver and Mathilda Holm to pass.

Doris lived a fulfilling life and loved having her family and friends visit her in Westport. So many Dungeness crab dinners were enjoyed around her dining room table! Also, many birthdays and holidays! She enjoyed dog-sitting her grandson's dogs, Stella and Maisy, when Tyler and Ken would go off on their adventures. And before Westport there were the family get togethers in Seattle...hanging out around the pool...stretching the tables from the dining room into the living room so everyone would have a seat at the table for the holidays.

Before Covid, Doris was busy with her bridge, dominoes and bunko groups. If you've played dominoes with her you will know all about Dori's rules! She walked for many miles on the beach with her golden retriever, PJ. Doris always had a smile and a kind word...unless you ticked her off and then you would be the receiver of her steely Swedish blue eyes. She had spunk and loved an adventure. In her seventies, she and a friend drove from Westport to the coast of Maine. She and three of her Westport bridge-playing girlfriends…in their seventies and eighties...drove from Westport to Alaska, including the Alaska ferries. They shared a room on the return ferry with four bunk beds…Doris and Bev took the top bunks because they were the youngest! They played bridge all along the way. Even until the end she was her sassy independent self!

A memorial will be held in the fall in Westport, Washington.
