Donna Kay Hamilton

May 12, 1933 — April 1, 2024

Lakewood

Kay Hamilton, age 90, passed away at Saint Anthony Hospital in Lakewood on April 1, 2024. She was born May 12, 1933, to Ila and Forrest Rasmussen in Ridgway, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her sister Bette Smith, and her husband Glen. Kay graduated from Central High School  before going on to attend what was then called Mesa College. Her love for Mesa College led her to a vibrant career there later on. In 1955, she married Glen Hamilton, and moved into a house they built in Grand Junction that remained her favorite place for her entire life. They were proud members of the Sportscar Club, where she made some of her fondest memories. She would go on to be an active member of PEO.

Kay’s favorite thing on earth was to travel. In her time here, she visited many countries and every state in the union. She loved to take tours, road trips, and cruises anywhere, but she loved Hawaii the most. Known for stopping at every beach to take pictures, Kay treasured the sights she saw, and enjoyed sharing them with her family and friends. Her desire to explore made every trip more fun. Outside of traveling, she loved reading, baseball, and nearly every kind of cookie.

Kay is survived by her two children, Holli and Scot, their spouses John and Chris, and her beloved grandchildren Shelby and Zach. She also leaves behind an evil cat named Otis, who she had a love/hate relationship with and who misses her very much. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. A memorial   service will be held at Callahan Edfast in Grand Junction, CO, on May 25, 2024, at 10:00 am.  Family and friends are invited to attend and wear purple to celebrate her life.
