Donald Allen Torr, affectionately known as Don or Donnie, passed away at the age of 84. Born on August 23, 1941, in Bantry, North Dakota, Don was raised on the family dairy farm in small town North Dakota.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his strong sense of duty and dedication. After his military service, he returned to working in power line construction, where his work ethic and determination helped him rise through the ranks. Over the years, Don built a successful career in the industry and went on to own several power line companies, including Boehning and Larson and TSI, leaving a lasting mark in the field.
On April 24, 1970, Don married the love of his life, Meredith Torr. They settled in Holly, CO where they raised their children before moving to Brighton, CO, and later retiring in Casa Grande, AZ. They shared many years together until her passing in October of 2012. Later in life, Don found companionship again and married Carolyn Torr.
Don was the proud father of Julie Stewart, Lynn Torr, Del Torr, and Darin Torr, and a loving grandfather to Greg Peake, Ashley Torr, Meghan Torr, Mackenzie Torr, Nick Torr, Madison Torr, Britton Torr, Brooke Torr, Aubrey Torr, Angelo Torr, and Mya Torr. His family was one of his greatest joys.
Outside of work, Don enjoyed many passions. He was a small plane pilot, loved fishing, enjoyed playing games, and took an interest in stock trading. Whether spending time outdoors, sharing a laugh with family, or quietly following the markets, he found joy in the simple things.
Those who knew Don remember him as a quiet man with a huge heart. He was gentle, kind, and caring, always ready with a warm smile and a big, unmistakable laugh. His calm presence and generous spirit touched the lives of many.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Snjolaug Torr, his beloved wife, Meredith Torr, and his sister, Joyce Ehlke.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Carolyn, his children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for family will live on in the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life event will be planned during the summer. More details will follow at a later date.
