Donald Paul Anderson

May 14, 1931 — March 27, 2026

Westminster

Donald Paul Anderson, 94, of Westminster, CO passed away on March 27th, 2026 after a brief illness. Born May 14, 1931 in Holdredge, Nebraska, He was the son of Joseph Paul Melvin Anderson and Judith Amelia Anderson. He graduated from Holdredge High school in 1950 with letters in Football, Basketball and Track.

He attended Trinity Bible College before being drafted into the Marines where he made Corporal. He trained as an Aviation Electrician and served his time at El Toro Marine Corp Air Station. He attended Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL under the GI Bill graduating with a degree in Chemistry in 1956. Junior year Don met Cara Jean Van Boven and they married on April 14, 1957 in Loveland, CO. They enjoyed 65 years together. He also obtained his Master’s Degree from Colorado State College, December 1960 in Physical Sciences.

Don was an athlete, a Junior High Science teacher, an Analytical Scientist at Rocky Flats, and an active participant in Anderson Catering before retirement. He worshipped at Arvada Covenant Church and served in many positions of leadership over the years. After retirement he was an active resident at Covenant Living of Colorado. He oversaw the Bocce ball schedule, participated in endless game nights, acted as chauffeur and assisted his neighbors in countless ways. He was quiet, reserved, soft spoken, stubborn and insightful. Kind is the word most often used to describe him. He was also an excellent game player winning on an annoying number of occasions. He remained dominant at Spinner Dominos until the end. He was also the preeminent score keeper adding numbers faster than any of his children. In his quiet way he looked out for others – that is his greatest legacy and lives on in his children and grandchildren.

He was a loving spouse to Cara Jean Van Boven Anderson and devoted father to Gregory Paul Anderson, Jill Denise Anderson Terrill (Paul) and Susan Beth Anderson Thoe (David). He knew, loved and invested in all of his grandchildren; Emily Ella Terrill, Isak Peter Suk Ho Terrill, Griffin Andrew Thoe, Annie Jane Thoe, and Carson David Thoe.

He will be well remembered. He will be missed. He is rejoicing with all the loved ones that have gone before. Probably beating them at whatever game they choose to play tonight.
