Donald Juergens

January 29, 1939 — August 4, 2021

Donald Evert Juergens, 82, passed away on Wednesday August 4th, 2021, at his home in Denver, Colorado.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years Sharon Kay Greenwell Juergens of Denver; his children and spouses Eric and Joni Juergens of Madison, WI, Susan and Ron Tilton of Denver, Jason and Laurie Juergens of Centennial; eight grandchildren, Carolyn, Joe, Parker, Rachel, Liam, Julia, Grant, and Henry; and his brother David Juergens of LaVerne, CA.  He was preceded in death by his parents Evert Wendahl Juergens and Margaret S. Sansom Juergens and his brother Thomas Daniel Juergens.

Don was born in Casper, Wyoming on January 29th, 1939.  His family moved to Denver shortly after his birth, and he remained in Denver nearly his entire life.  He attended local schools, graduated from South High School, and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Colorado.  After graduation Don moved to Minneapolis to work for Honeywell, moving back to Denver with Honeywell two years later.  A little later in his career, Don enjoyed the opportunity to work in Lausanne Switzerland for two years.

Don loved music, especially early rock and roll.  In the 1950’s he played the drums in a few bands, even cutting an album.  He gave up this pastime to raise a family and attend college.  He also loved the outdoors.  He was an avid skier, hunter, fisherman, golfer, and tennis player.  Don loved to play bridge and also loved playing word and card games with his family.  Don was a positive person who truly enjoyed life especially spending time with his family.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life event at Pinehurst Country Club on Sunday, August 15th from 4-6pm
