Donald Wayne Herhold, 58, of Denver, Colorado passed away October 15, 2014 from complications of acute myeloid leukemia. Born February 24, 1956 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he spent his childhood in Detroit, Michigan, Rockford, Illinois, Charleston, West Virginia, Madison, Wisconsin and Gainesville, Florida. He attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota for two years and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance. While at CU, he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He earned his MBA in finance from the University of Denver in 1982. Don served as an audit and accounting consultant and in recent years traveled with his job around the world to England, Scotland, France, the Czech Republic and Brazil. Throughout his life, he led an active lifestyle and had a passion for running and scuba diving. He enjoyed comic books, superheroes and movies and always had a smile on his face. He also had a love of music and sports and frequented concerts and sporting events, especially cheering on his CU Buffs. His main passion, however, was his family, and his love for his wife, two daughters and golden retriever, Leila, was evident to everyone. Don is survived by his wife, Lisa, of Denver, daughter, Julianne, of Denver, daughter, Kristen, of Sarasota, Florida, mother, Jo Anne and stepfather Jerry, of Masonville, Colorado, sister, Wendy, of Santa Fe, New Mexico and brothers, Dave and Mark, of Denver. He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne. A celebration of Don's life with family and friends will be held in the coming months.
