In Loving Memory of Donald Erb
Donald (Don) Erb, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 19, 1932, in Wellman, Iowa, to Truman and Anna Erb, Don lived a life full of adventure, love and laughter - creating many cherished memories with those who knew him.
Don leaves behind his devoted wife of 65 years, Dolores (Dee); younger sister Joann Huneryager; children Diane (Ray) Flores, Suzanne (Kevin Huhn) Evans and Michael (Jennifer) Erb; grandchildren Drew (Alexa), Paige (Dash), Kara (Brad), Reid, Danielle (Michael), Father Micah, Harrison and Hayden (Sarah); and great-grandchildren Oakley, Daxton, Beckett and Tatum.
Don was preceded in death and the life to come by his older siblings Kathleen Kenagy, Marjorie Stutzman and John Erb.
Throughout his life, Don found joy in many pursuits. He was passionate about golf, fishing, poker, skiing and donuts. He had a sharp wit and loved sharing jokes with those around him. Don had a knack for finance, accounting and doing people's taxes - skills that served him well throughout his life. He was a longtime treasurer of Winter Park Lodge II Condominiums, where he made lasting friendships and contributed to his community, remaining active with the homeowner association till his late 80s.
Don's career in accounting took him to various places, including Boulder, CO, and Birmingham, AL, before settling permanently in Denver in 1963. His dedication and hard work led to a successful and fulfilling career, including time with Sealtest Dairy, Gates Rubber Company and Combs Gates Aviation.
Don was more than just a numbers guy and an outdoor enthusiast. His quick wit was legendary. He had an uncanny ability to lighten any mood with a well-timed comment, effortlessly transforming moments of seriousness into ones filled with joy.
Don had a deep faith in God that guided him throughout his life. He found solace and strength in his faith, a founding member and regularly attending church at Risen Christ Catholic Parish in Denver.
Don will be remembered for his warm smile, generous spirit and love for his family. His legacy of never-ending guidance, financial wisdom, kindness and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A vigil/Rosary will be held Monday, April 8, 2024, at 5 p.m. at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2200 S Harrison St., Denver. Luncheon to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's memory to Haven of Hope Denver, First Tee Colorado Rocky Mountains or a charity of your choice.
Though Don is no longer with us, his memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in peace.
