Donald William Diones

Donald William Diones 94, of Greenwood Village and Vail, Colorado passed away on October 20, 2026.

He was born on March 12, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa to Viola Katsis and Bill Diones. His mother and father immigrated from Greece in the early 1900’s and Don carried his heritage proudly and passed on much to his beloved family.

Don graduated from Colorado College in 1953 and was a Phi Delta Theta. On July 19, 1959 he married Frances “Fran” Koclanes, a striking Denver Greek girl whom he always called the best thing that ever happened to him. The couple lived in Colorado Springs and moved to Denver in 1964. Don entered the securities business in 1965 with Kirchner Moore and remained in the industry until his retirement in April 2019 at 87 years old.

He is survived by his beloved wife Fran, children Elaine LaCerte (Jim), William Diones (Suzanne) and Peter Diones, six grandchildren - Alexander Diones (Lynn), Gina Diones, Hannah Diones, James LaCerte, Nicholas Diones and Elena Diones.He had meaningful influence on his extended family including dozens of nephews, nieces, cousins and enjoyed a long life with his Big Fat Greek Family!

Funeral services and burial will be private. The family appreciates your understanding and respect for their privacy during this time.
