Surround by loved ones on the morning of June 9th, 2024, Donald Peter (Don) Di Annie passed away peacefully at his home in Denver. Born to Peter and Mary on Christmas Eve, 1929, Don grew up in North Denver, working at a nearby grocery store beginning at age 9. He joined the Navy in 1951 and was stationed in the Marshall Islands. From his location on Kwajalein, he got to see the first test explosion of the Hydrogen bomb. After the Navy he returned to Denver and attended the University of Denver, taking several classes in Architectural Drafting.
In 1954, he met and married Marie Adducci (Straface). Together they had two children, Donna (Marrone) and Steve whom they loved very much. In 1960, Don became part owner of a new shower door business (Monarch Shower Doors) and became sole owner in 1965. He successfully guided the business until his retirement in 2000. Tragically, in the fall of 1972, Marie passed away from cancer. Don remarried Naomi (Enney/Bezoff) late in 1979 and welcomed two additional children (Linc and Chad Enney) into the fold. Don was all about family and loved to have family gatherings. Christmas Eve, Easter, Fourth of July, and any other weekend or opportunity to have family time, was a good time. Don lived a full, and exemplary life. He was a craftsman, a teacher, and a mentor to all that took the time to listen and learn from his lessons. His generosity and influence on all the lives he touched was unrivaled.
Don leaves behind four children Donna (Stan) Marrone, Steve Di Annie (Rachel), Linc (Laura) Enney, and Chad (Karen) Enney, nine grandchildren Nick (Joanna) Di Annie, Tony (Christine) Di Annie, Anna Castellano, Vince (Liz) Castellano, Austin (Abigail) Enney, Kayla (Mike) Lemieux, Allie (Kyle) Martin, Madison and Brooklynn Enney. And ten great grandchildren – Sophia, Ariana, Melania, Abriella, Rossi, Giana, Dominic, Kia, Mille, and Harper. Two more are on the way!
