Donald Joseph Bald, known to many as Don, passed away suddenly on October 1, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado. He was born on March 21, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, and lived a life marked by devotion to his work, steady service, and deep love for his family.
Don served in the Air Force Reserves, a commitment that spoke to his sense of duty and dedication. Don then built a long and faithful career in the airline industry. He worked with Ozark Airlines and for TWA Airlines, beginning as a baggage handler and later serving as a ticket agent, giving 35 and a half years to the company. His years of service reflected his strong work ethic and the dependable spirit he brought to everything he did. Don enjoyed the 32 years of retirement following his career in the airline industry traveling and going on many cruises with his wife, Sara.
Outside of work, Don found enjoyment in the things that captured both craftsmanship and nostalgia. He had a special interest in model planes and classic cars, hobbies that brought him pleasure and reflected his appreciation for detail, history, and design. Above all else, he loved his family, and that love remained at the center of his life.
Don is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sara Bald, who shared his life and love; by his daughter, Connie Lees; by his son, Kevin Bald; by his sister, Maryjane Degryse, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He will be remembered with affection by those closest to him, and his presence will be deeply missed in the lives he touched.
Don’s memory lives on in the family he cherished, in the years of honest work he gave, and in the quiet joys that meant so much to him. May those who knew and loved him find comfort in remembering a life of commitment, warmth, and enduring love.
