Don Milton Young

Don M. Young, 77, passed away on August 17 2016, in Littleton, CO during recovery following hip surgery. Born on May 14, 1939 to parents Bennett and Cora Young, Don grew up in Palisade, Colorado. He enlisted in 1958 and served for twenty-two years in the US Air Force, retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He went on to work as a Safety Engineer for Martin Marietta for another twenty years. He retired at age sixty-five after achieving success supporting NASA's efforts to return the Space Shuttle program back to flight after the Columbia disaster. Don is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Lolita Young, his daughter, Jonna Crutchfield, his son, Don Young (wife Christine), his brother, Bennett Young, and his five grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexander Crutchfield, and Austin, Dylan and Kaylie Young. A funeral service is scheduled for Don on August 21, 2016, at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO, at 1:00 pm. Interment will be on August 22, 2016 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Stage Area C, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO, at 9:15 am.
