Don Bjork, a lifelong learner and retired manager of Meter Engineering at Public Service (now Xcel), passed away on April 29, 2025, at 89. Don spent his career in public utilities, known for his problem-solving mind, planning skills, and dedication to reliable service.
Beyond his professional life, Don was a man of wide-ranging interests. He found joy in exploring art, architecture, archaeology, and ancient civilizations. He was equally passionate about music, gardening, woodworking, photography, and technology. Born in Chicago, Don moved the family to Colorado to take advantage of the state's beauty. He loved the outdoors. Whether hiking, skiing, or traveling the world, he embraced adventure with a curious and thoughtful spirit.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his sister Arlene, and the many cherished puppies holding a special place in his heart. He is survived by his daughter Dawn (Brian), his son Larry (Arlene), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends who admired his quiet wisdom, integrity, and generous heart.
A private family remembrance will be held later this summer. Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to PBS or Colorado Public Radio.
