Dolores (Dee) Michael Kulik, 80, passed away at her home in Calhan, CO on April 30, 2021 of natural causes. Born in Denver, CO on August 9, 1940, Dolores was a research Geologist/Geophysicist for the US Geological Survey (Retired). She had been the President and then the Regional Representative of the Women's Advisory Committee to the Chief Geologist of the United States – US Geological Survey.
She was the author of research papers concerning thrust belts and tectonics with worldwide applications and participated in the mapping of the moon.
Dolores had a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and a teaching certificate with Denver Public Schools. She was awarded the Certificate of Sustained Achievement and the Special Achievement Award. Dolores has been listed in the “Who's Who in America” and the “Who's Who in the World” publications and received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dolores is a member of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Smithsonian Institution, Alaska Mensa, American Mensa, Geological Society of America and numerous animal and environmental groups.
Dolores traveled extensively, both for work and for pleasure. She watched professional baseball games all over North America, explored Nepal and participated in a Mt Everest expedition.
She lived in her beloved Alaska for many years, spending time with her cat, hiking, camping, white water rafting and gardening. Dolores never lost her thirst for knowledge and enjoyed reading, Astrogeology and Native American History.
She is survived by her son, Kerry Moline, daughters Vicky (Moline) Lowe and Marnie (Wilson) Windhorst and grandchildren Brandon Windhorst, Brittany Windhorst and Michele Moline.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Ella (Bryson) Kulik.
