Diane Stokes

June 20, 1954 — April 28, 2025

Denver

Imagine a life full of beauty and color. One where a radiant soul travels throughout her lifetime making connections and actively experiencing the beauty that the world has to offer. Imagine a woman traveling to a little mountain town sitting at a brunch restaurant with her friends laughing as the wind whistles in the air and laughter fills her lungs. Imagine a woman that did not see beauty in the way the world does. But instead sought out the old and rusty things that most people deem as junk in some of the most lost and forgotten places.

This would describe Diane Stokes. To her family she loved deeply, laughed the loudest and hated germs, especially those carried by children. To her friends she laughed and smiled the most and always sought to create the best memories ever while doing so in a style all of her own.

Diane would encourage you not to mourn her, but to find the courage to seek the beauty and the color of the world no matter how scary it may seem. She believed in the simplicity of writing to your loved ones in letters and in cards, because to her it would last longer than anything else she could ever give them.

Before Diane took her last breath surrounded by loved ones on April 28, 2025, she accepted our Lord and Savior as her own on April 20, 2025, surrounded by love. She spent her last days eating her favorite strawberry snack and seeing her great-great nephew coming home from school.

Diane is survived by her sisters Patricia Morgan, Ada Gassaway, Claudia Stokes and Rebecca Stokes. Diane is also survived by her brothers Steven Stokes and John Stokes. Nieces and nephews. Great nieces and great nephews. Great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

Even though she is survived by many she is finally home with her parents William Cortez Stokes Sr and Sofrances Stokes, her brother William Cortez Stokes Jr, and sister Cassandra Tinsey.

In closing 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 reads “4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.”

In the times when you miss her, replace her name with the word LOVE and find she will be near providing you comfort. Take heart and live a beautiful and colorful life.

Just like she did.
