Diane Marie Marty

Diane Marie Marty (Jacomet) was born 1952 in Milwaukee, WI.  She told the best stories, gave meaningful gifts, and said just the right words you needed to hear in vulnerable moments.

Wayne first laid eyes on Diane at a collage nightclub in LaCrosse, WI. He mustered up the courage to ask her to dance the next night.  Wayne and Diane married on October 23rd, 1971 at 19 and 20 years old.   They have been actively bribing, doting, and laughing with their grandchildren in Colorado for the last 25 years.

Diane’s love for words came to life when her Journalism degree was handed to her from Hillary Clinton for graduating Summa cum Laude from the University of Minnesota. As a published author and ferocious reader, she went where the story took her.

The story of a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s concluded when her body, but never her spirit, was convinced to leave this world on Tuesday, May 21st with family and friends by her side. Her dark, witty humor comforted us through the bitter end. Just ask family to tell you how the wife of 53 years to Wayne; devoted mom to Drina (Chad) and Brittany; goofy grandma to Daedyn, Maya, Aubrey, Ty and Lacey; wisest cracking sister to Jerry (Sally) and Bob (Christine); favorite daughter to late Mary and Gerald; and beloved friend to many “tasted the rainbow.”

Diane loved entertaining so it is fitting to honor her legacy with a party where friends and family sing out of tune and dance without rhythm (date TBD summer 2024). In remembrance of Diane, the family asks for any memorial tributes to be made in the form of charitable donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

The world didn’t get darker because Diane’s contagious light lives within those who fiercely adored her stories, and let her win Scrabble games with 2 letter words.
