Derrick Charles Levy

June 22, 1987 — July 10, 2025

Chicago, Illinois

On June 22, 1987 at 11:26 a great leader was born in Denver Colorado. Upon Derrick Charles Levy's arrival he quickly began to influence & make impact to the hearts and lives of his mother, Nyasha Levy, His grandfather, The Late Arthur Charles and his grandmother Juanita Levy.

Derrick Levy was educated in the private & public school system, graduating from Cherry Creek High School in 2005. During his time at Phillips Elementary School, he was a student ambassador for the Special Olympics. All of the special-needs students adored him and in fact, many would not get off the bus to go to school until Derrick got on & held their hand to walk into the school.

At Hamilton Middle School it was not uncommon for some random teacher to buy him lunch at a local restaurant during March Madness so that he could help them fill out their brackets.

Athletics was in Derrick's DNA. His enthusiasm for Golf developed at the age of 5 out of his STRONG desire to do man stuff with his grandad. He loved playing with him so much that his grandfather Arthur, took a set of his golf clubs and sawed them down so he could sneak Derrick on to the golf courses to play. Derrick made varsity as a freshman in Football, Basketball & Track. He was selected Student Athlete of the week on several occasions. Derrick was the recipient of the Charles Christian Memorial Award in 2002 and in 2018 he was inducted into the Hall of Honor for the Pirates Youth Football Organization. During his Junior and Senior years, he was the Top Wide receiver in the State of Colorado. His catches were electrifying and brought many to his games each week.

Derrick Levy's true passion was basketball. As one of top point guards in Colorado, he was an amazing "floor general". Derrick Levy had exceptional ball-handling, court vision, passing ability, leadership, and the ability to make smart decisions under pressure. Derrick received honorable mention for The McDonald's All-American Games, he also received Gatorade recognition. Derrick's significant prominence in the Colorado Sports scene made him one of the top recruits in both football & basketball.

Derrick attended the University of Wyoming before pursuing his business career. Derrick pioneered the Denver cannabis scene and became a national figure in the industry. He was the Chief of Sales for a New York based company, 1906. Additionally, Derrick is the current CEO of SESH, a nationally recognized cannabis resource company, which was co- founded with his partner McKensie Kahnweiler.

Derrick has always been a strong mentor to his community. He will be fondly remembered for his confident stride, huge smile, and the happiest laugh. He was an inspiration to countless employees, colleagues, caddies, family members and anyone he came into contact with

Derrick was excited to play Golf on Sunday July 14th where he was going to drop an engagement ring into the cup on the 18th hole before McKensie’s last putt, so he could ask for her hand in marriage. The couple’s first child is due in late December.

On July 10, 2025, his work was completed on this earth, and he officially became our angel and ancestor.

Derrick is survived by his loving mother, Nyasha Levy, his partner McKensie Kahnweiler, Grandmother Juanita L. Pope Levy, Great- grandmother Ida M. Smith. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Arthur C. Levy and his brother Devaughn Christopher. He also left behind a host of loving family that included His aunts, Sharifa Levy, Aidah Levy, Nia Levy, & Amber Levy, Carolyn Pope, Helen Frey, Sheila Mauldin, Loretta Castille, Canary, and Deidra. His Uncles Willie Rossum, Ray Mauldin and Leo Frey.
