Dennis Alan Walters, aged 79, died at his home in Aurora, Colorado, on October 31, 2021. He was the long-time owner of The Barber Den in Littleton, Colorado, cutting several generations of mens’ hair from 1968 to 2019. He treated customers like old friends and knew everyone’s name. Dennis was also a prolific painter of Bob Ross style landscapes, and his happy little trees and clouds dot the walls of many homes. One of Dennis’ favorite activities was visiting a local retirement home and chatting with the gentlemen there. For several years, he swapped stories, bantered, and shared his ever-smiling presence with men who so often spend days alone.
The jokes he could tell! Generally off-color and always filled with gross detail, Dennis could spin a tale, and it didn’t matter whether he knew the listener or not. Jokes were second only to the stories he told of his children and grandchildren. He shared sports stats and pictures of the four-year-old who golfed like Tiger, the senior who jumped like Jordan, the Princess among trolls and the star player who dunked “nothing but net”!
Dennis’ loss is most felt by those he left behind – his wife of 57 years, Judith; his son, Steve Walters and wife Suzanne Burns; his daughter Lisa Walters; grandsons Daniel Metler and Zachary Walters; brother Curtis “Corky” Walters and his wife Karen; brother-in-law Douglas MacLean and wife Rita. Also missing him are countless nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 9th, at 2:00 pm at the Horan & McConaty Chapel located at 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014. Dennis always appreciated the service of our veterans as many were customers at the shop. If you would like to make a memorial contribution, consider the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. He always wished he had the money to provide homes for the homeless and underprivileged, so Habitat for Humanity might be a consideration.
