In Loving Memory of Dena LeAnn Humiston

Dena LeAnn Humiston, a radiant soul whose charisma and warmth touched everyone she met, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity.

Born in Leadville, Colorado—the highest city in the United States—Dena was raised by her loving parents, Lolly and Gary Humiston. From the very beginning, she carried the spirit of the mountains with her: resilient, adventurous, and breathtakingly beautiful in both presence and personality.

Dena was very athletic in high school with swimming and basketball, she enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, and biking.

Dena was a woman of many passions. Her love for travel took her across the globe, where she captured the world through her lens with an artist’s eye and a storyteller’s heart. Photography and art were not just hobbies—they were expressions of her vibrant spirit and her deep appreciation for life’s fleeting moments.

Those who knew Dena will remember her infectious sense of humor, her ability to light up a room with her laughter, and the way she made everyone feel seen and cherished. She had a rare gift for making people feel at home, no matter where they were.

Dena’s journey through life was one of connection, joy, and boundless love. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Dena is survived by her immediate family: Lolly and Dan Shepherd; her sister Jenai Humiston and brother-in-law Michael; step brothers Jeff, Brandi Cash, and Kyler Shepherd; and Dana, Tricia, Chanella, and Kane Shepherd. She also leaves behind several uncles, aunts, and cousins. All who knew her carry her memory with love and pride.
Dena was preceded in death by her father, Gary Humiston.
