Delores (Dee) Ann Anderson (nee Hoffman) was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado on November 6, 1942. She was surrounded by many of her loving family at her hospital bedside when she entered into God’s Kingdom on May 1, 2025 after an extended, but courageous, battle with cancer.
Dee is preceded in death by her father Clement Frederick Hoffman, mother Luella Catherine (Smith) Hoffman, Melvin Lundberg, and Kendall Fortner. She is survived by her husband Ray Anderson, her brother Richard Hoffman and wife Clare, her children Christine Fuentes and husband John, Carol Francka and husband John, Michael Lundberg and wife Chere’, Angelina Anderson and husband George Ponce; and her grandchildren Edgar, Maxwell, Brittany, Kyle, Terra, Jacob, Christian, Jenny, Nathaniel, Sarah, and Michael; and her great-grandchildren Theodore and Vietta; her nephews and niece, and grand-nephews and grand-niece.
Dee graduated from Fort Morgan High School (FMHS) in 1960, and attended the University of Northern Colorado for one year then moved to Denver seeking employment. Dee began working at Moore Mortuary as secretary to the president. Soon after she married Melvin Lundberg and together raised their three children. As a stay-at-home mom, she became deeply involved in volunteering at her childrens’ school, and many extra-curricular activities. The annual science fair competitions intrigued her the most. Many evenings were spent proposing possible ideas for each child’s entry into that year’s exhibit. All that work usually garnered an award. She took joy in seeing them excel in their own lives, and raise her grand- and great-grandchildren. She liked all sports, especially the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, college football, and golf. She continued to join her FMHS classmates for fun gatherings, even past their 50th class reunion.
Dee worked as Technical Administrator/Environmental Restoration at Rocky Flats Environmental Technological Site for 11 years. After closure of the site, she applied her expertise in environmental investigations/preparedness at DynCorp. At Exempla Lutheran Medical Center as Assistant to Managers of Human Resources she developed marketing plans for area clinics to, in part, assist at-risk families. While working full-time as Executive Assistant at Regis University she also completed nighttime courses and received her BS in Business Administration, graduating Cum Laude. She also dabbled in inventing: a process to clean corroded sheets of depleted uranium by sandblast while submerged in water, and an All-Terrain Wheelchair (ATW).
Dee met her future husband, Ray Anderson, in 1985 at a Rocky Flats Ski Club party. They made an instant connection on the dance floor and were loving, best friend companions, remaining together the rest of their lives. They were married in October of 2005. In retirement, Dee continued to remain active doing volunteer work with Freedom Service Dogs, Foothills Animal Shelter, Colorado Greyhound Association and Legacy Schnauzer. Since 2008, Dee and Ray enjoyed fostering over 100 dogs. She also was active with Senior Access Love Inc. and Wednesday Morning Singers. Dee enjoyed writing and published her book Luella, a fun fantasy, historical fiction novel. As an artist, she enjoyed creations in many mediums: painting, working clay/ceramics, jewelry silversmithing, and others. At holidays and celebrations, she was ever the gracious host and chef.
Dee was devotedly faithful to the Blessed Virgin Mary who was her counsel in daily prayers and she took comfort in the belief that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. She will be sorely missed but fondly remembered.
Visitation will be at Horan & McConaty on Wednesday May 14th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Memorial, reception, and graveside services will be May 15, 2025 at 11 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lakewood, Colorado.
Bible verse noted by Delores: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
