Delma Engel

Delma Esther Schliep Engel, 92, of Westminster, Colorado stepped into heaven peacefully on October 16, 2022 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, CO.

She was born December 8, 1929 in Forbes, North Dakota to the late Samuel James Schliep and Arlene Mabel Schliep.

Delma was predeceased by her brother Donald Ray Schliep as well as her husband Neale Duane Engel.

Delma was a long time member of Sloan’s Lake Community Church, (now Altitude Church).  While serving over the years, she sang in the choir, participated in women’s ministry, hosted a home Bible study, and participated in other areas as needed.  She loved Jesus and reverently feared and honored God.

Delma retired in 2000 from the Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center in Golden, Colorado. She then made her home at Covenant Living of Colorado. Not only did she thrive in her new home environment, she enjoyed the various opportunities offered her there.  She loved knitting, her flowers, and was an avid Broncos football fan. Her weekly Friday visit to the beautician was always a highlight. She has been spoken of as kind, gentle, and an outstanding example of a Christian woman by her friends and staff at Covenant. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her three daughters Suzan (Mitch) Gilbert, Sherry, (Greg) Johnsen, Lanette (Rick) Dennis, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Delma’s love for her family was faithfully expressed through carefully chosen cards and many well planned meals in her home.  Every holiday was special to her. The family will miss those wonderful gatherings.

As long as she was able, she looked forward to flying to Ohio to spend time with her family there – trips to Dawes Gardens and Holden beach were among a few of her adventures.

The Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday at 12:30PM, MST, October 30th, 2022 at Altitude Church, 6550 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, Colorado.  It will livestream on Altitude Churches Facebook.  Pastor’s officiating are Sr. Pastor Lee Brown, retired Pastor Ed Nelson and Pastor  of Discipleship, Ron Olsen.

Attire: semi-casual, no black, we are celebrating Delma’s life!
