Dellene “Dene” Kay Hogue passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of the place she loved most. She was 88 years old.
Dene was born on May 13, 1937. She was one of ten from humble roots in Nebraska. Throughout her life, she was known for her kindness, and the quiet strength she carried in caring for the people she loved. She lived a life centered around family, simple joys, and a deep pride in the home she created.
She graduated from Madrid High School in 1955. After high school, she attended the University of Nebraska for a year before beginning her role with the First National Bank of Denver. Her work ethic and sense of responsibility were qualities she carried throughout her life.
Dene had a special love for her home and yard, taking great care to keep both immaculate. Neighbors often stopped while passing by to admire her yard and share a conversation with her. Those small moments of connection meant a great deal to her, and she was always happy to pause and visit.
Dene really enjoyed visits from her sister, Shirley. They would enjoy Starbucks and some great conversation. Dene was very close and cherished her relationship with Shirley.
She also enjoyed playing cards, sharing laughter around the table, and spending time with her immediate family. These simple gatherings were among her favorite moments—filled with stories, smiles, and the comfort of being together.
Dene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Phillip James Hogue; her son, Sean Michael Hogue, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. McCormick; and her siblings, Mona, Bev, Jack and Gary. Though their loss was deeply felt, she continued to carry their love with her and remained devoted to the family they built together.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Scott Hogue, and his wife, Stacey Hogue; her cherished grandchildren, Kendall & Landon Hogue, Shaylen & Ryan Hogue, her siblings, Shirley, Karen, Sharon, Bob and Roger; and her daughter-in-law, Doneva Hogue.
Dene will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to family, and the warmth she shared with those around her. Her love, kindness, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
There will be a private Celebration of Life for Dene and her son Sean.
