Debra "Deb" Lister, 60, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in Raton, NM.

Deb was born on January 26, 1963, in Denver, CO to Franklin D. and Alvina A. Engel. She grew up in Englewood, CO and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1981, where she was the valedictorian of her class. She attended Englewood Beauty College and received her Cosmetology License that same year.  

On June 20, 1998, she married the love of her life, John Lister. Together, they welcomed two children, Alec and Abigail who joined their older half-sister, Teresa. She was so proud of her family and loved them dearly. They lived and raised their family in Littleton, CO until they recently retired and bought a home in Raton, NM.

Deb was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She had a heart of gold and was so kind and generous to anyone she encountered. She was a strong Christian woman, was always happy, so positive and joyful to be around. Deb was a talented, successful hair stylist with a wonderful clientele whom she adored for over 40 years.  

Deb loved music and could sing and dance all night long. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her "Women to Women" Bible Study group at West Bowles Church where she shared her faith and love for Jesus.  She played Mahjong weekly with her dear friend, Christy and family. Deb loved to play cards and enjoyed gambling trips to Blackhawk and Las Vegas. She was always so lucky on those slot machines!  She loved her Denver Broncos and would usually lose her voice from cheering them on! She was an amazing cook who made the most delicious green chili!  Deb traveled the world with her friends when she was young, spending time in Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Fiji, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean and beyond. 

Our hearts are broken, but we are comforted knowing that Deb has made her final journey to eternal life and is now in the loving arms of our dear Lord. Her smile, her laugh and her hugs will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  

Deb is survived by her husband, John Lister; children Alec Lister; daughters Abigail Lister; Teresa Lister; grandson Kai Velasquez; brother Michael Engel; sister Cynthia (Floyd) Teiffel; brother-in-law Scott Lister; nephews Chad Engel, Jeff (Emily) Teiffel; nieces Jessi Engel, Nicole (Nate) Dolan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Alvina Engel; mother-in-law, Laura Lister father-in-law Theron Lister; brother-in-law, Marty Lister.

Deb's Celebration of Life will be held on August 17, 2023, at 1:00pm at Horan and McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO.  Reception to follow at T.J.'s Bar and Grill, 7893 W. Jewell Ave, Lakewood, CO
