With full hearts, we announce our treasured wife and mother, Debora Ann Lichtenwalter, 67, passed into the arms of her Savior on September 27, 2025, in her home in Parker, CO.
Born on March 22, 1958, to William and Blanche Barlow, Debbie was raised in Colorado alongside her brothers, Thomas and Daniel. She and her family were active members of Amazing Grace Church in Englewood, CO where she developed a deep faith in Jesus Christ. Debbie steadfastly stood upon His salvation and hope as the foundation for her entire life. She graduated from Ranum High School, where she excelled in softball, swimming, and making lifelong friends. She went on to attend Rockmont College. Though her job title evolved, she worked in an administrative role for over thirty-five years. Debbie provided more than work-related support. Her office became a place of encouragement to the many employees she served, often praying with them and sharing the Gospel.
In 1978, Debbie met a handsome and Spirit-filled guitar player at Daniel’s Den Coffee House. She and Steven Jay Lichtenwalter wed on November 29, 1980, and built a life filled with faith, family, music, and laughter that spanned forty-five wonderful years. Above all, they centered their marriage around Christ and dedicated their lives to His work and ministry. Debbie served alongside Steve as he pastored several churches across Colorado, providing wisdom, encouragement, and support. Their deep love and commitment to one another is an inspiration. She brought Steve good all the days of her life. Debbie never wanted to miss an opportunity to provide compassion and encouragement to the brokenhearted or the struggling. She was unparalleled in her discernment, and countless lives have been eternally impacted by her great love.
None were more impacted than her children, Sara, Melissa, and Steven, to whom Debbie gifted her faith. She would often say her family was her hobby, and she loved spending time with each of her children. Debbie wholeheartedly devoted herself to raising her family, building them up to walk in the calling the Lord has for each of them. She loved them unconditionally, raised them unapologetically, and believed in them unreservedly. Debbie also counted her sons-in-law, Christopher and Bryce, and her daughter-in-law, Shannon, as her own and poured her love into each of them. All her children and their spouses call her blessed.
Among Debbie’s greatest joys were her six grandchildren. She was a devoted Nana and candy supplier. From their first days to her last, Debbie was present and active in their lives. As evidenced by the many sleepovers, shopping excursions, school events, holidays, and birthdays she was a part of. Proudly filling her home with many family photos, Debbie always kept her family close to her heart.
From arts and crafts to home decor, event planning to thoughtful gifts, Debbie had excellent taste and a creative spirit. She made everywhere she lived and worked a place of stylish peace and will be remembered for her elegance and timeless beauty. Her wardrobe was the stuff of legends. Her love of Diet Coke even more so, and no trip to McDonald’s will ever be the same. We miss her presence more than words can express.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Steven, their children, Sara (Christopher) Dickey, Melissa (Bryce) Myers, and Steven (Shannon) Lichtenwalter. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Sophie, Samuel, and Benjamin Dickey, Titus and Colette Myers, and Evelyn Lichtenwalter. She is also survived by her parents, William and Blanche Barlow, her brothers Thomas (Rhonda) Barlow and Daniel (Jackie) Barlow, as well as equally loved in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Debbie lives in the hearts of her long list of friends.
We all eagerly await that glorious day when we will see Debbie again. Until then, we cling to a psalm she often quoted,
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my savior and my God (Psalm 42:11).
A celebration of Debbie’s life will take place at 11 am on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Southwest Assemblies of God Church, 3199 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227.
Flowers may be sent directly to the church and will later be donated to Debbie’s parents’ care facility.
